Speaker Presentation

Bryan Bender

The UFO Caucus: A new generation of members of Congress are taking on what was long political kryptonite: unexplained encounters with advanced craft in the air and at sea

at the community center

A bipartisan coalition has not only pushed through historic legislation requiring the military and spy national agencies to comprehensively track and analyze unidentified aerial phenomenon, but has also mandated regular briefings and reports for congressional oversight committees. And they are not shying away from seeking data on what many would dismiss as science-fiction: the possible health effects from reported close encounters.

Bryan Bender, a veteran national security reporter for Jane’s Defence Weekly, The Boston Globe, and now POLITICO, will outline how and why Congress got serious about UFOs — and how a new paper trail could change what we think we know about the government’s approach to the phenomenon, then and now. But will the national security bureaucracy play straight with the people’s representatives?
